Someone was waiting when the victims came home with their weed haul
A shootout over some weed resulted in three deaths early Monday on the west side of town.

After the exchange of gunfire, Balraj Singh, 30 and Justin Colby Eaton, 27 were pronounced dead at the scene. A third man was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital with severe injuries and later died there, police said. His identity is being withheld pending notification of family.

The shootout took place at an apartment complex in the 10000 block of Westpark about 3:30 Monday morning.

Singh and Eaton were returning from what HPD nicely calls "a road trip" involving the trasporting of marijuana when they pulled up to the complex.

"Three unknown black male suspects in an early 1990s, gray four-door Chevrolet Suburban were waiting for them in the parking lot," police said. "As the victims entered unit #213, two of the suspects approached the men. One of the suspects produced a handgun and fired at the victims while inside the apartment. The suspects then fled the scene."

Investigation showed the suspects had stolen "an unknown amount" of weed from the victims' car.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

Update: Singh's brother disputes several of the assertions made by HPD:

My brother did not live at the condo. My family knows where he lived and it wasn't there. Also, the police never were able to produce any type of lease agreement to prove that he had any ties to that place. The police also did not find any marijuana at the scene. It is all speculation. If the chronicle is going to print articles and defame peoples characters in death they should be factually correct by that I mean be able to prove it with evidence.
