At about 7 p.m. on Wednesday, someone near MacGregor Park flagged down a patrol officer and said that a man has been killed at a nearby apartment complex. When the officer drove up to the building, located along the 5100 block of Browncroft, he found a body lying in the street.
The cop called an ambulance, which took the man to Ben Taub General Hospital. It was there that doctors officially declared the man, whose name has not been released, dead.
Investigators say they figured out that the man got into a fight with a bunch of people in the common area of the apartment complex and that at some point one of them yanked out a gun, shot the victim and then fled.
The next challenge is to figure out who the shooter is.
