Even Rick Perry Can't Support Arizona's Immigration Law

• "No matter what you think of the law, boycotting Arizona businesses is ridiculous. The people don't make the laws." THAT'S RIGHT. But the people ELECT people who make the laws.

• I beleive if we cut all illegals off food stamps, housing, tution, fianical aid, medical, jails, etc and make them pay taxes this would end our budget problem. If you are here illegal you are breaking the law. We need to adopt Mexico's laws. If Perry want fight for the citizens of Texas then maybe someone else should be govern of Texas.

• I am normally a fan of Rick Perry's but I have a problem with his comments about Arizona's immigration law. Keep in mind that the number one goal of a politician is to keep his job, and Hispanics are an important Texas voting block as are conservatives. What did Perry actually say? 1. Texas shouldn't have a law like Arizona's even though Arizona's says that federal laws should be enforced. 2. The federal government should deal with the problem. That way he's off the hook for doing something about it. 3. It needs study. Translation: That way we avoid the issue for awhile. 4. I did not notice that he addressed the problem of criminals and drug runners, but perhaps he had them in mind when framing his response. chuckles

• If the feds refuse to enforce our laws, someone has got to. We're fed up.

• Residents of Arizona are not in "panic mode", 70% of them support the new law; 70% of the US public is also in support. Panic mode would better describe the liberals and democrats for the November elections! The tail will soon stop wagging the dog.

• Forget Rick Perry. Jeb Bush, Karl Rove, and Tom Tancredo have all come out against it. Does this tell you anything? It appears that a similar influx of carpetbaggers have infiltrated Arizona, like Austin, and they seem to want the place to be even more Conservative that it ever was, even in lore. They buy into the mythology, until they get here, and realize that much of what they thought the state was about is mostly political pandering. So, they tend fight even harder to shape their new home into what they thought it was before they moved there. Any Texas Governor who proposed what Arizona proposed would get eaten alive by the public. It would make the Arizona debacle look tame. Texas has a much more involved history with the issue. While residents of Arizona seem to be surprised by this sudden shift, and are clearly in panic mode.

• Perry has always been very weak on immigration issues in his actions as governor, althought he hams it up for the conservative vote right before the elections.
