Which Classy Texas Congressman Shouted "Baby Killer" Last Night? (Updated)

Last night's historic health-care vote was an emotional event on both sides of the aisle. Only one side, however, showed the class it takes to yell "Baby Killer!!" at a colleague.

And all signs point to a Texan doing the deed.

Anti-abortion Democrat Bart Stupak got up to speak late in the evening, explaining he'd be voting yes because the Obama administration will issue an executive order keeping federal funds from abortions. (Which is the case now, anyway.)

As he did so, someone yelled "Baby Killer."

Representatives -- even those who know who said it -- refused to name the shouter, but they pointed fingers at the Texas delegation. Rep. John Campbell of California told the Washington Post the voice had a "southern accent."

Campbell, initially suspected as the lawmaker who shouted the phrase, told reporters that he didn't say it and believed that it came from a member sitting a row behind him, where the Texas Republicans usually sit.

Campbell said he heard "a Southern accent". "The people who know won't give it up," Campbell told reporters. He said the remark was "clear as a bell."

Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) said he heard the remark and said it did come from in the area of where the Texas and California delegations sit. He said he believes he knows who yelled it, but declined to say anymore.

"I can make a guess," Barton said.
Most guesses seemed to include Louie Gohmert of East Texas, who is a bit of a loose cannon.

Gohmert told the Lufkin Daily News, whose website seems to be overloaded right now, that it wasn't him. "Whoever said it was obviously upset, but it was inappropriate for them to yell that," he's quoted as saying.

We expect full Zapruder analysis of the seating arrangements during the crucial moment last night, although C-SPAN cameras were focused on the podium.

Saturday Night Live's Seth Myers weighed in on Twitter: "I'm starting to think there are no appropriate places to yell 'baby killer,'" he wrote. "Although, to be fair, 'Baby Killer' IS Bart Stupak's rap name. He also answers to Stupac."

Updated: We have a winner loser!! Randy Neugebauer of Lubbock has `fessed up, according to the Dallas Morning News. He somehow explains people should "mistakenly reference" his shout as a direct reference to Stupak.
