R.I.P., Another Exotic Car: Maserati Plows Head-First Into Cop Car

​It's been a tough couple of months for exotic sports cars in Texas. First we had the Bugatti that was allegedly (but probably not) hit by a bird and ending up in a lagoon; now we've got a Maserati plowing head-first into a cop car.

(Note to drivers of exotic sports cars: If you're going to do a face-plant into an oncoming car, try not to choose ones that are painted black and white and have shiny rotating lights on the roof.)

Both the crashee (College Station cop Tracy Sheets) and the crasher (sometime Houstonian Alex Taylor Ford, a 21-year-old female bartender) are in the hospital, although both look like they are improving and will be okay, according to news reports.

Aggieland TV station KBTX says reports indicate Ford was racing a 2006 Maserati that she had "borrowed for the weekend" when the accident occurred. (The Maserati is registered to Houstonian John Jackson, a man with a generous heart, or something.)

Taylor is a former criminal-justice major at Blinn College; she later became an English major, then dropped out to become a bartender, then turned to Maserati racing early Sunday morning.

Her criminal-justice knowledge may be put to good use: She's been charged with the second-degree felony of intoxicated assault causing serious body injury to a peace officer.

`Cause if you're gonna borrow someone's Maserati, you might as well get your buzz on doing it.
