High school football playoffs start this weekend, and Hair Balls is excited.

The Woodlands and Hightower High School finished undefeated and, from what we saw this season, look like they'll be tough to beat. Katy High School, whose only loss came in the team's opening game against The Woodlands, won a huge game against Cinco Ranch High School on Saturday, winning the district championship. Katy could be on the way to a third straight state title.

And everyone should be cheering for Galveston Ball High -- some people thought the team wouldn't recover from Hurricane Ike -- which finished the season with a 5-5 record but made it to the playoffs. Unfortunately, Ball plays Hightower on Saturday.

To honor the start of this playoff season, Hair Balls offers some memorable games in recent history:

1. I done wet my britches: Plano East Senior High vs. Tyler John Tyler, 1994. Best game ever. Plano East trailed 41-17 with three minutes left but did the impossible by taking the lead with 11 seconds to go. Then the impossible happened again. If you are interested in sports, or even know what sports are, please watch this video. The play-by-play guy, demonstrating the usual objectivity of a high school football announcer, says with pure joy at the end, "I done wet my britches!" Seconds later: "I want to throw up."

2. The Vince Young game: Houston Madison vs. North Shore High School, 2001. About 40,000 people showed up at the Astrodome to watch Vince Young's Madison Marlins play North Shore, the top-ranked team in the state at the time. Both teams were undefeated. Young scored six touchdowns in the game, and Madison beat North Shore 61-58. Enjoy Young's greatness.

3. Vomiting for a touchdown pass: Southlake Carroll vs. Austin Westlake, 2006. By winning the game, Southlake Carroll secured its spot as one of the best high school teams of all time. It was the school's 48th-straight win and third-straight state championship. But this game will forever be known for something else: the quarterback's vomit. The game was tied in the fourth quarter when quarterback Riley Dodge projectile vomited in the middle of a play. He threw a 30-yard touchdown pass on that play, then vomited again.
