Now The Teabaggers Are Coming For The TV Stations

We told you earlier this week that yet another Tea Party event was coming our way. Now we learn that the teabaggers will be taking steps to make sure they get the coverage they (think they) deserve.

There are plans to picket the Houston affiliates of ABC, CBS and NBC (Fox? Fox?) in "Operation Can You Hear US Now?" (See? The "US" can also mean the United States!)

From their announcement -- "Description: Obviously, the 'main stream' media are hard of hearing and seeing. About 2 million mad & angry taxpayers assembling in Washington, D.C. for the largest-ever (most well-behaved ever, most respectful ever) protest did not make it onto their radar screens (or our TV screens)."

Yes, the ol' two-million estimate. Which was partly taken from a misquote of a guy who was talking about the Obama inauguration. (See irony, examples of). And the definition of "most respectful" obviously now includes comparing your political opponent to Hitler.

So what should these non-Fox stations expect to see?

They need our help. Maybe we cannot repeat an assembly of 2 million mad & angry taxpaying patriots in one place, but surely those who longed to go and couldn't would love to be a part of Operation "Can You Hear Us Now?" I'll bet for every one patriot who went to D.C. there are 10-20 more who wished they could have been there as well.

Hey, tweet - email - message - call your local and national media favorites so we can get the word out even faster! Come October 17th, the MSM will certainly HEAR YOU!!! The only question is, will they listen?

Albert---My initial reaction would be yours: that the tea-party folk are ripping off a seminal American event for cynical political purposes. But, last night I happened to watch John Adams, the HBO special. There, our original tea-partyers were put in proper perspective: genuinely angry, uneducated, uncouth, emotional and easily whipped into a froth by certain interests behind the scenes. These were the folks who John Adams often thought were regressing our feeble society to Hobbes' state of nature: short , violent, and brutish. The difference is that this untamed emotion back then was guided ultimately by intelligence, rational reflection and appropriate action (which is the whole point of the book and series), instead of by our baser instincts. The sad thing about today's conflagration is that there are no heroes like John Adams or Franklin or Jefferson. If someone like Lindsey Graham is now our brightest light for progress, I'm very scared. So, while I understand the teabag folks' anger, I'm saddened that they have no leader of genius, let alone one of competent caring, who has the stones (as Franklin said) to do the right thing.
I find it strange that they are claiming the 30,000-70,000-person march on Washington wasn't covered by the media. Didn't they see the clip of CNN's Rick Sanchez calling out Fox for blatantly lying about that? Probably not because they only watch Fox, and that's where they got this false notion.
Tallyho blubbered: 'Buh-bye... never to return (Gee I wonder why your papers and your newscasts are losing MILLIONS of viewers?)' Since when did the Houston Press have millions of viewers to lose? And how does a newspaper have viewers? I'm so confused. Anywho...don't let the door hit ass on the way out.
What's offensive is appropriating a great moment in America's history for partisan political purposes. The Boston Tea Party was the seminal event where Americans did not stand for taxation without representation. Now the far right uses the term to describe small groups of them getting together to whine because their party lost, and their guys aren't calling the shots anymore.

"Tea-bagger" is a gay obscenity. It is a word that means that conservative men lick other men's scrota. Yes, yes, I know you're about to delete this note as it no doubt violates your terms of service. Why don't you delete the whole column? It is equally foul.
