Bayou Body Count: Houstonians Finally Get Back To Killing Each Other

"HPD's veteran Homicide investigators cannot recall a single week in the past decade without a murder in Houston," Hurtt said. "We welcome this lull in violent crime."
That lull -- stretching from October 10 through 20 -- is now over, and Houston residents are back to their normal, killing ways.
Like this little gem from over the weekend.
On Sunday at about 4:20 a.m., police were called out to an apartment on the 7700 block of Corporate Drive, where a man had allegedly shot and killed his son. Police say that Ofelio Otero, 40, had been drinking and began arguing with his wife over a video game that had gone missing. Otero then turned his wrath toward his 17-year-old son, Ignacio, and the two argued over the missing game.
As the father and son quarreled, police say, Ofelio Otero grabbed his gun and loaded it. At some point, police say, Ignacio took a swing at his Dad and tried to run away. But, according to investigators, Ofelio Otero shot his son and then fled.
Police were able to track Otero down to a nearby apartment building and after a standoff with the SWAT team, arrested him. Otero is charged with murder and is in the Harris County jail on a $50,000 bond.
Police found a number of dead bodies this weekend and are looking for clues.
On Saturday, the cops got a call about a suspicious looking Dodge pickup truck on the side of the road along the 11400 block of Sandhurst. Inside the truck, police say they found two men, ages 26 and 30, shot to death in the head. A third guy, age 16, dead from a shot to the back, was found lying just outside of the truck.

Police say they have no motive or suspects yet.
Police also found 31-year-old Anthony Maxwell dead in his apartment at 11755 Southlake Drive early Sunday morning. He had been shot to death. Police are still investigating.
