UH Sells Out For Tech, Expects "Largest Crowd" In Stadium History

​UH announced this afternoon that Robertson Stadium is officially sold out for next Saturday's game against Texas Tech.

"This is tremendous and is a testament to our great fan base," director of athletics Mack Rhoades said. "This is only the fourth time in the history of the facility we will have a crowd of more than 30,000, and to do this more than a week in advance of the game is terrific. What we hope for, now, is great crowds like this for the remainder of the season."

Well, beat Tech and maybe it'll happen.

The  school said it expects the largest crowd in the history of the stadium. The Coogs have had home crowds bigger than 31,000, but that was when they were playing at the Dome (and usually when they were playing Texas, in a stadium filled with Longhorn fans.)

The game is going to be televised nationwide, so seeing it won't be a problem. But the atmosphere at funky old Robertson should be fun, as it was when the Coogs took the C-USA title there three years ago.
It's not only fans getting into the act.

The UH sports-information office sent out a notice earlier today warning media outlets that they'll be limited to credentialed reporters, and some might have to sit under cover on the press box roof because so many want to cover the game. Too many tickets had been sold to allow press-box overflow to use regular fan seating, as sometimes happens, UH said.

So the place will be packed, a national TV audience will be watching on ESPN2, and the night game should provide pleasant weather.

Now it's just up to the Coogs to win.

The over/under on the game between these two offensive powerhouses is, we believe, 474. But we haven't really checked.
