Don't Believe The Hype! The Press Mayoral Debate Is Not Only Still On, It's Already Been Broughten!!

Anti-trust lawyers began searching collusion law last night as word began to emerge that Houston's field of mayoral candidates had agreed to drastically cut back on the number of forums/debates they'd attend.

Then they put the law books away, because even they agreed there were far too many mayor's-race forums, especially when you have candidates who pretty much agree on everything.

But what did the announcement mean for the Houston Press/University of Houston-Downtown forum set for September 30?

Not much, it turns out. There's no way the candidates wouldn't bow to the power of the Press. (And UH-Downtown, of course.)
"We have touched base with both Roy [Morales] and Gene [Locke] today in light of the article and they have confirmed," UH-D's Liza Alonzo says. "I left a message with Annise and I do not anticipate her backing out."

Not only that, she said that it appears Peter Brown, who had yet to commit to appear, was likely to show up. So yeah, bring it on? It's already been broughten.

Which means, of course, that we're still eager to hear any questions you have for the candidates. Hit us up at rich.connelly at houstonpress.com (You know how to substitute the "@") or in the comments section.
