Make It Stop: Now DPS Is Messing With Our Inspection Stickers

First they came for the driver's licenses. Then they came for the license plates.

Now, the DPS's March to Mediocrity continues with...inspection stickers.

Texas inspection stickers have been pretty low-key since they've been invented, but no more. Now they will feature a cowboy on a bucking bronco, because....because....that somehow has something to do with getting your car inspected. We assume.

"We wanted to present a new certificate design that was immediately identifiable as being Texan," said JoJo Heselmeyer, director of Vehicle Services for the DPS.

They're right -- the new sticker looks absolutely Texan, and nothing at all like the logo for the University of Wyoming's athletic teams:

The new stickers will be rolled out beginning August 1, DPS said, or warned.

"Inspection certificates issued in previous years will remain valid until their listed expiration dates," the agency said, so at least you have some breathing space before you have to join the world of the ornery Wild West...on your Prius or VW Bug.

We're wondering if there's anything left for DPS to mess with, and we believe the Reign of Terror is over. We  can only hope they've finally gotten their newly found artistic side out of their system.
