It's your last chance to get your Sherlock Homes fix (a seven-percent solution, naturally) as the Alley Theatre's Summer Chills production of Sherlock Holmes and the Crucifer of Blood comes to a close.

The Summer Chills shows are always entertaining, and Todd Waite pretty much owns the Holmes roles on the Houston stage. Tickets are $21-$49; for more info check out the Alley Theatre's webpage.

Another stage production seeing its final curtain this week is Thoroughly Modern Millie at the Texas Repertory Theatre Company. The bouncy, Tony-winning Roaring Twenties musical was popular with crowds and had an extended run, but the show must go off this weekend. Tickets are $35, with senior discounts available; check here for details.

A whole lot of art shows are closing this weekend as summer ends, so here's a quick rundown. Click on the links for more info.

"Existed: Leonardo Drew" is at the Blaffer Gallery. Everyday detritus transformed into art.

"Toil and Trouble" at the CTRL Gallery. Seven cutting-edge artists on display in a variety of mediums.

"A Texas Sampler" at the William Reaves Fine Art gallery. Works by early Texas painters. Light on the over-the-sofa bluebonnet paintings, we assume.
