Sarah Palin Takes On The Crackhos of Houston

You better darn-tootin' not hijack an official Web site from Sarah Palin's State of Alaska. Houston DJ and nightlife ne'er-do-well Shoe Latif recently found that out the hard way when she got a cease-and-desist letter from the flinty-eyed legal eagles in Palin's Attorney General's office. And no, Palin didn't enclose a picture of herself winkin' either. This is the Internet we're talking about here, people. Serious business.

On the plus side, Latif can now say she has a letter with official "Sarah Palin, Governor" letterhead that contains the following opening sentence: "It has come to our attention that the website www.crackho.com has hijacked a State of Alaska webpage."

First time "crackho" and "Alaska" have been used together? Probably not. But it's still nice to have it on letterhead.

I'm not sure which is funnier -- the crack(ho?) legal team who thought it was an infringement of anything, the news reporters who thought the charge was even in the vicinity of legitimate, or the readers who were also fooled. It's a trifecta of tomfoolery, for sure.
Uhh, she did nothing illegal at all, it's well established that you can have a link or refresh to another site and nobody has anything to say about it. That said, this whole thing is rather demeaning to real crack hos, who actually do something that is useful to someone.
Piney- you're an idiot. The website 'crackho.com' is setup with a RE-DIRECT to the ACTUAL ALASKA STATE SITE. There is nothing illegal going on here, and yes...its FUNNY AS HELL.
Piney, Los and Sloth: While you're free to have any opinion you want- you have no idea how the Internet works and should refrain from opening your mouths on technical issues. The index page of crackho.com (usually index.html) contained an HTML meta redirect tag. This tag told the web browser of whoever came to crackho.com to simply go to another site- that of the state of Alaska. There was no hacking, there was nothing criminal. It's as if you came to my house, and I said "you don't want to talk to me- go talk to my neighbor instead." In other words- It's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt."
yeah seems people dont understand this at all. the website is a "Redirect" - whoever made it did nothing to palin's site at all - its like imagine someone who lives in another country has a front door on their house, that is a portal to the front door of your house...they havent affected your house at all, (your front door still works normally), but people who go to that other front door wind up at your house. redirects are commonplace on the internet (and not illegal, fools.) u can say its a childish prank, immature, insulting, etc...but so what.
Wow..... The stupid, it burns.... It's not a hijack. Its a redirect. Better sue tinyurl too. You people just aren't that smart are you? A million websites do this all day. It's actually the page the Alaskian government put up, so there's nothing wrong going on here.
2600 magazine prevailed in their lawsuit with Ford Motors on this same issue. The Electronic Frontier Foundation may also help the crackho fend off the lawyers.
Common sense would tell you that this stunt was a bad idea. I hope the epic LOLZ these intrepid, oh-so-rebellious pranksters got were worth all the repercussions.
The person who created the site knew exactly what she was doing and who she was doing it to.... there is no excuse for this sort of thing. I hope her hosting company, her personal ISP, and her employer decide she needs to do community service perhaps in Alaska scooping moose pellets in the winter.

I hope crackho doesn't try this with the White House. Rahm will break her legs at the kneecap.
