They're Still Arresting People Who Curse In Galveston County, Gosh Darn It

Last year Kristi Fridge garnered nationwide publicity after being arrested in a La Marque Wal-Mart for cursing. Reasonable people thought that if a vengeful God had somehow decided to mess with you enough to place you in a Wal-Mart in LaMarque, then cursing would be a viable response.

The whole thing petered out eventually, and life returned to normal in Galveston County.

Until yesterday. When someone cursed again. Authorities did what they had to, and arrested the man.

Since -- apparently -- Galveston County residents endured Ike, and the ensuing clean-up, and the tangled dealings with FEMA, all without cursing, law enforcement officers really had no choice.
A guy from Queens, NY, was eating in a diner with a woman and had the following bon mots to offer, according to the Galveston County Daily News: "I can't believe you're so fucking stupid. What the fuck were you thinking?"

People, please notice this guy is from Queens, the most New Jersey-ish borough of New York City. Priests end masses there by saying "Go in peace, to love and serve the fucking Lord."

After the manager of the diner complained to a cop who was also eating there, the conversationalist was charged with a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct.

We're not fucking kidding.

However it is within the letter of the law. & it does strike me to call for the letter of the law when it comes to the word Fuck & then justify violence. Further, you completely set up a straw man. The article doesn't state he was one of those who couldn't utter a sentence w/o dropping the f bomb. Nor does it state he was offending defenseless old women & small impressionable children. It says the restaurant manager overheard him drop TWO f bombs on his 'date' & turned to the police. How 'bout some common sense? The manager or the policeman politely asks the man to clean up his language &/or be quieter & that's the end of it. & if I may, "I can't believe you're so fucking stupid. What the fuck were you thinking?" doesn't seem that bad. Had it been "You stupid fucking bitch. You're too fucking stupid to live" or something, I could more see the offense. "What the fuck where you thinking?" doesn't imply anger or attack to me. Not to mention, is this really what we want our police, tax dollars, & courts being used for? Grow up people.

This is too F much! There are people being raped, murdered, attacked etc... and then we are wasting time and tax payer dollars on a F word that means F fornication U under C consent K ing Which means the king would give permission to have sex after war. Its not really a bad word unless you dont like sex....lol. Get a F life!
While I can appreciate the humor in this situation, it is very annoying to be in a public establishment, trying to enjoy an outing with a friend or loved one, perhaps a mother, grandmother or child, and some loud-mouthed jerk at the next table cannot utter a sentence unless it is laced with profanity. First, if you MUST curse in public, please lower your voice. In addition to the rudeness of the coarse language, the volume can also be an issue. My sencond point is, it requires only a limited vocabulary to curse, bnt a more extensive one to come up with a manner of voicing your opinion that doesn't require cursing. Between the over-abundant use of profanity and the incessant texting and instant messaging, people have forgotten how to speak and write a proper sentence. And thirdly, had I been the woman dining with the loud-mouthed jerk, he most likely would have ended the conversation with his meal in his lap for calling me stupid in the first place. I wonder how smart he feels now?
