Four Catholic Schools Closing, Robbing Future Generations of Ruler-Wielding Nun Stereotypes

Maybe it's just the 12 years of Catholic school in me, but it's always sad to see one of these tradition-bound institutions close.

And now four of them are to be shut in the Houston area.

The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston announced that, on the heels of last year's shutdown of Mt. Carmel High, the following elementary schools will be shuttered: St. Chalres Borromeo, St. Philip Neri, Holy Name and Our Mother of Mercy (if George Carlin were still alive, he'd break out the "Our Lady of Perpetual Motion" school name.)

Fetishists all over Houston are mourning the loss of plaid skirts and knee-high socks, assuming Kids These Days even wear the things anymore.
