Five Worst Hangovers In The Movies

The holidays are upon us, and whether you're dealing with 8-hour layovers at O'Hare or sleeping on your aunt's rollout bed with the bar that lays right across your sacroiliac joint or "entertaining" your brother and his brood of monstrous offspring, chances are you're going to drink. A lot. To help get you through those inevitable mornings after, here are some of our favorite memorable movie hangovers.

5. Bad Santa (2003) This unquiet interlude pretty well sums up all of Billy Bob Thornton's recent efforts. I like to think director Terry Zwigoff prepped him for the performance by telling him to imagine Brad Pitt vigorously nailing his ex Angelina Jolie.

4. Galaxy Quest (1999) That's Houston's own Missi Pyle as one of the Thermians encouraging Jason Nesmith (Tim Allen) to return with them to the ship. Fun fact: Anthony Bourdain also recommends drinking Coca-Cola to ease a hangover. Then again, he also recommends smoking a big fat joint, but this is a family film.

3. The Hallelujah Trail (1965) One of the nice things about older depictions of drinking is that it's easy to buy, say, Burt Lancaster bellowing at his troops to shut the hell up after a night of whiskey indulgence. Watch Tom Cruise affecting a slur in A Few Good Men and see who's more believable.

2. Notorious (1946) I always give Hitchcock credit for - among other things - filming this scene in such a way as to actually make me feel hungover while watching it. Of course, the same thing happens with the video for U2's "Even Better Than the Real Thing," so maybe I just have a weak stomach.

1. Blazing Saddles (1974) "A man drink like that and he don't eat...he is going to die."

"When?"

I try to make all of my hangovers as entertaining as the Waco Kid's. It rarely works.
