Clear Channel has said it planned to get rid of the two stations, but no one was sure who'd get them.
It turns out one huge radio outfit has been traded for another.
CBS Radio, which has 140 stations in the top 50 markets in the country, has swapped five smallish stations for Clear Channel's two bigger ones. (No players to be named later, no draft picks.)
So if there were any (idiotically naive) listeners out there who were hoping that a new owner would bring a fresh, independent approach to radio, you've been pwned.
It sounds, from the official CBS release, that no changes are in the offing:

It sounds, from the official CBS release, that no changes are in the offing:
"Both of the newly acquired Houston stations, KLOL-FM and KHMX-FM, are format leaders in the market," said Dan Mason, President and CEO, CBS RADIO. "We are thrilled to be adding them to our portfolio and believe they will nicely complement our four existing stations."So, no return of the KLOL of old.
