Rusty Yates On His Life Now

Categories: Spaced City
Rusty Yates, the husband of baby-drowning Andrea, has thrust himself into the spotlight again.

He was on Good Morning America today, talking about how happy and terrific life is for him right now, seven years after Andrea drowned their five babies.

Reports ABC:

The new father has even shared pictures through e-mail of son Mark, who was born March 20, with Andrea, who now resides in a San Antonio psychiatric hospital after she was found not guilty by reason of insanity in her children's deaths.

"She's like, 'He's so cute.' She was pretty excited."

Yates has remarried, despite video evidence that he never quite has lost that goofy look on his face.

He and Andrea communicate by e-mail once a week and by phone once a month or so, ABC says.

"From the beginning, Rusty Yates had always been supportive of Andrea, who suffered from postpartum psychosis," ABC says.

Which we guess is true, but as far as we can tell GMA didn't go into the subject of wacky fundamentalist cult leader Yates subjected Andrea to.

(Andrea told a psychiatrist the day after her arrest: ""My children were not righteous. I let them stumble. They were doomed to perish in the fires of hell....The way I was raising them they could never be saved. ... Better for someone else to tie a millstone around their neck and cast them in a river than stumble. They were going to perish.")

Maybe they'll ask the next time he does a network interview.
