Houston (possibly) is bringing forth the world's ire, yet again.

This time it's a British member of parliament railing against an online game called "Kaboom -- The Suicide Bomber Game" which the Daily Mail says was invented by "an anonymous man from Houston, Texas."

"Players move a terrorist of Arab appearance along a busy street to get as close as possible to the most civilians. They then click their mouse and the bomber opens his coat to reveal grenades strapped to his body before exploding in a shower of bloody limbs.," the Mail reports.

Sounds like fun!

Some people say the game -- available free here -- glorifies suicide bombers and devalues life. The inventor tells Hair Balls it doesn't.

"Have you tried playing it? It's absolutely pointless," says the inventor, who won't reveal his name or whether he's really from Houston ("I have received several death threats," he says).

He claims the bare-bones game was meant only as a demonstration; now it periodically become the subject of politicians' rants about the web.

I have no love for my creation. If some jack-off politician wants to rally up a lynch mob and attempt to "ban it from the Internet" (haaaaaaaaaaaaahahaha!) well they can knock themselves out. If the newspapers want to line themselves with sexy headlines like "Internet Game Awards Points for Killing Children" well they can also have a go.

But don't point think for a second that you can just point your fucking finger at me when it comes down to who's being careless or insensitive in this matter because I'm the last person promoting it at this point. So how does this continue popping up periodically? Well I know this much, the game's supporters love it because they love death and violence, they love being politically incorrect and they love controlling the fate of little simulated victims. The media loves it because they love making money and they know how much the people love to read about atrocities.

Since it's just an Internet game that most readers aren't going to take the time to play they know they can get away with exaggerating or leaving out little details such as the fact that the "game" isn't even complete. The politicians love it because it's an opportunity to mount their white stallion and attempt to slay the vicious beast before it terrorizes the town folk, thus becoming the valued hero of our time and winner of future elections.

So, it seems, everyone's wrong but him.

He says he invented the game as a high schooler and is shocked by the reaction.

It never occurred to me to think that I, a high school student at the time with the most minute programming skill possible to complete this demo, would have the power to aggravate an entire country and Jews the world over and I can't imagine many in my position that would have thought anything close to the furor that has raged over this was something to consider.

"The Suicide Bomber Game" causing a furor? Really, who could have foreseen that?
