Area Man On TV Tonight
MacRae, who recently moved to Austin, was added to the mix for his spot-on imitations of celebrities such as Harrison Ford, Ozzy Osbourne, Mel Gibson, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Connery and more.
“So that Frank doesn’t have to do every single character, because that’s what it was the first season,” MacRae tells Hair Balls. “It was very grueling thing for him to do, so obviously he’s still the centerpiece of the show but they wanted to have some other folks so they ended up adding myself and a guy named Freddy Lockhart.”
This isn’t MacRae’s first television appearance. His talents earned him a guest spot on The Late Show with David Letterman in May of 2007 during Impressionist Week. He also makes a living as a comedian touring all over the United States. He met Caliendo at the Laff Stop in 2001 and the two were instant pals.
“I was introduced as the guy who did impressions and so we kind of went back and forth [doing impersonations] amusing ourselves and annoying other people,” MacRae says. They kept in touch and when the time came for Caliendo to find some extra cast members for his show, MacRae was at the top of the list.
“He always liked my Harrison Ford … He kind of had me in mind because he had some sketches in mind that would work well with a Harrison Ford,” he says. “So he contacted me to audition.” MacRae impressed the producers and that was that: He spent two months earlier this year filming the season which started in October and will run for 10 episodes. You can watch it every Tuesday at 10 p.m. on TBS.
