Fanfare For The Area Man

The Sealy Times gets today's award for most-Onion like headline:

"Local Man Joins Presidential Race"

That big-dreamin' local man is a Houston native -- Thaddaus Hill, who heads the Madisonian-Federalist Party.

Hill is a political science professor at Blinn College. He admits he's not measuring the Oval Office for drapes just yet.

“We are fully aware that the votes we receive will be nominal, but I’m running because it’s right,” Hill told the News.

He doesn't really sound too crazy:

"Slowly but surely, power is becoming more consolidated into the hands of just a few,” Hill said. “I do feel Senators Obama and McCain have the country’s best interest at heart, but we as a nation and state are unaware of what history has shown us.”

He pointed to the recent $700 billion bailout plan, the Iraq War, warrantless wire-tapping, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Education as areas where the government has turned a blind eye to the constitution.

But he seems to have absolutely no position on Joe the Plumber, so he won't be getting our vote.
