Half the fine levied by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality will go to the Houston-Galveston AERCO's Clean Cities/Clean Vehicles Program in Chambers County.
Placing second in the list of pollution violators this week is an old standby, Houston Refining, LP of Harris County.
The company, a subsidiary of LyondellBassell, was fined $384,884 for 27 air and water violations from 2006-2008, which we suppose is why it was named the third-worst violator of clean air rules for 2007 by the Galveston-Houston Association for Smog Prevention.
Half of Houston Refining's fine will go to the Houston-Galveston AERCO's Clean Cities/Clean Vehicles Program of Harris County.
