Chefs Pitch In for Brennan’s Fire Victims

Categories: Spaced City
One of the saddest stories to come out of Hurricane Ike was that of Brennan’s employee James Koonce and his 4-year-old daughter Katherine, who took refuge in the historic restaurant and were severely burned in the early-morning fire that broke out there around the time Ike was hitting.

Top chefs in Houston are collaborating for a one-night-only special culinary event on Thursday, October 23 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., with the proceeds going to the Koonce Family Fund.

The list of participating chefs reads like an honor roll: Ojan Bagher (360), Jeff Boudreaux (Brasserie Max & Julie), Bryan Caswell (Reef), James Cole (Flemings), Mark Cox (Mark's), Levi Goode (Goode Company Seafood), Jeffrey Everts (Olivette @ The Houstonian), Mark Holley (Pesce), Jonathan Jones (Beavers), David Luna (Shade), Hugo Ortega (Hugo's), Wes Morton (17 @ the Alden), Ryan Pera (The Grove), Monica Pope (t’afia) and Chris Shepherd (Catalan)

The benefit dinner will be at The Beacon, 1212 Prairie, with parking available on site at 515 San Jacinto Street.

There is a suggested donation of $100 per person and payable at the door. Proceeds will go to the Koonce Family Fund with a small donation made to The Beacon, a program of Cathedral Health and Outreach Ministries.

For more information on the event contact Kathryne Castellanos at Kathryne@BrennansHouston.com or 713-522-9711.For more information on how to contribute to the Koonce Family Fund, visit www.brennanshouston.com.
