Tomball Gets Power, Loses a POD
Today is the last day for the site to operate at HWY 249 and FM 2920 because power has been restored for many Tomball residents. Grassi didn't know where the pod would be moved tomorrow, but believed it to be in the Magnolia area.
The supply line, which stretched for about a mile, was running smoothly despite people waiting in their cars from three to four hours to get ice, water and food, but yesterday and earlier today, things didn't go so well...
Yesterday the site started with three trucks of ice, water and food, which lasted from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
At noon, the site was still without replacement trucks, and FEMA reps said the trucks should be in Tomball at any minute, according to Grassi. But the trucks didn't actually arrive until 10 p.m., and then with only three trucks of water.
Some people had waited the entire ten hours, mainly for ice and food.
Three more trucks arrived this morning. Those supplies were gone by 10 a.m.
By noon, again with no replacement trucks, Grassi wasn't taking any chances, so he called Judge Ed Emmett and arranged for six supply trucks to be waiting at Reliant for a Tomball police convoy.
