Some Ike Statistics

Categories: Hurricane Ike

The Harris County Homeland Security & Emergency Management office has released a by-the-numbers look at the response to Ike.

It's pretty random, but numbers are real, man. So here they are:

2,400 special-needs residents were moved by Metro

1,125,750 gallons of water were distributed at PODs

2.8 million MREs were distributed at PODs (That's a lot of MREs never to be eaten, we're guessing)

220 rescues by the Coast Guard. (Pre-storm: 103 humans, six dogs; post-storm 107 humans, four dogs)

10.5 million pounds of ice distributed

Over 300 news releases put out
