No One Messes With Fort Bend County Fair Day

So you'd think every day would be precious.
But not if it interferes with the Fort Bend County Fair.
For years, students in the Fort Bend ISD have gotten a day off for the opening of the fair; this year the scheduled day is Friday.
And today, as most FBISD students returned after a full week off, they were told that the county-fair holiday will proceed as planned. It would be too much of an inconvenience to force people to change whatever plans they had made for that day.
FBISD spokeswoman Mary Ann Simpson adds, "The Fort Bend County Fair Association felt that the observance of this event was important to our community and asked that the district not cancel it -- and the district agreed."
We guess that's showing Ike something; we're just not sure what.
