CNN To Open A News Bureau In Houston

Categories: Spaced City
Houston, we're big-time.

Well, at least as big-time as Columbus, Ohio.

CNN has made the somewhat surprising announcement that they'll be opening a bunch of new bureaus around the country, and Houston is one of the 10 cities designated to get one.

The bureaus will be staffed by a single "all-platforms" reporter. Which means some very overworked person who will shoot video, report, edit, blog, vlog, twitter, facebook and whatever else is the next craze.

"CNN recently started the expansion in Minneapolis," reports the Orlando Sentinel. "Other cities receiving new bureaus will be Philadelphia, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Houston, Denver, Seattle, Raleigh-Durham, N.C., and Columbus, Ohio. Most will be one-person bureaus, like Orlando."

It'll be like the glory days of the "one-man bands" of that 24-hour Houston channel that briefly tried to survive here.

But should a cheerleader mom go wild, or a white woman go missing, rest assured CNN will be all over it.
