A Chicken in Every Pot and Pruno in Every Toilet
We’re not sure if his platform includes looser shiv-control laws and an overhaul of the bjs-for-protection economy, but a federal prisoner in Texas has landed on the ballot for Idaho’s May 27 Democratic primary.
According to an Associated Press story, Keith Russell Judd, serving time in Beaumont for “making theats at the University of New Mexico” in 1999, filled out the necessary paperwork. The AP reports that “Judd paid his fee with a U.S. Treasury check drawn on his prison account, listing as a campaign office telephone number the city desk news tip line at the Beamont Enterprise.” (We’re a little hurt he didn’t props to the Houston Press). The extra-kick-ass thing is that this is the second time the dude got on Idaho’s ballot – he qualified as a write-in candidate for the 2004 presidential election.
We’re not really sure what the huge deal is, though. A lot of Texas politicians wind up in prison anyway – what’s so bad about hearing from a dude who’s already there? – Craig Malisow
