Over the Weekend: Turkeys, Aggies, Cougars, Rockets, Girls Gone Wild, Swedish Rockers and Gratuitous Drinking

Any mention of postprandial Thanksgiving seems to require a tryptophan reference, so let’s just pretend we made a joke about passing out in grandma’s lap and move on…

It was one helluva weekend.

There was the H-E-B Holiday Parade. We were way too hungover to make it out, although we did bring back some photos of the preparations.

The Aggies took down the Longhorns at Kyle Field in a game that wasn’t near as close as the final score (38-30) would have you believe. Any doubts? Just check out this maroon and burnt orange slideshow.

Chron columnist Richard Justice went on the attack against the Cougars (the UH football team, not the older women who try to pick up younger guys at bars), so our very own John Royal attacked right back.

On the pro sports front, the Texans lost, but the Rockets finally won. Be sure to check out our interview with Rockets GM Daryl Morey.

The inimitable Robb Walsh, a.k.a. the Carnicería Connoisseur, headed down to Brownsville and brought back a fabled tale of the best barbacoa on the planet.

Joe Francis, a.k.a. the Girls Gone Wild guy, turned out to be one whiny dude, while Swedish rockers Peter Bjorn and John turned out to be more than one-hit wonders. We’ll have a review of the latter's show at Warehouse Live over here in a little bit.

Welcome to Monday, people. Too bad they all can't be four-day weekends. – Keith Plocek
