This Just In: Priscilla Slade Jury Still Deadlocked

Categories: Spaced City

Jurors charged with deciding the fate of former Texas Southern University president Priscilla Slade will give it another whack tomorrow as they remained deadlocked by a vote of 7-5 following a full day of deliberation Thursday.

On Wednesday, the jury said their vote was 8-4. No word on whether the jurors are leaning toward conviction or exoneration.

Friday will mark the fifth day jurors have been deliberating since having the case turned over to them Monday following the eight-week long trial.

Slade is accused of spending more than $500,000 of TSU’s money to pay for everything from landscaping and security for her private home to bar bills at pricey restaurants.

Slade’s defense attorney, Mike DeGeurin, has argued that all of Slade’s spending was done to boost the image and status of the cash-poor university and to lure donors. – Chris Vogel
