Litton Loan Litigants Granted Class Status (say that five times fast)

Categories: Cover Story

Speaking of updates, there’s good news for the folks suing Litton Loan, the Houston-based mortgage servicer: They can proceed with a class-action suit. After two years of legal wrangling, a U.S. District Court judge in California has granted class status to a nationwide group of disgruntled mortgagees. The July 30 ruling includes allegations raised by former Litton employee Debra Murray, whose struggle we wrote about here. Amazingly, in the 56-page ruling, the judge never got around to saying how many people are actually involved in the suit. The closest we get to a number is that it’s at least 40. We’ll be monitoring the situation to see if the plaintiffs hit triple-digits. – Craig Malisow
