Little Gentlemen and Gentlewomen One and All

According to HISD spokesman Norman Uhl, “The golf instruction is centered on principles of good character.
“In addition, this gives students a chance to learn golf. Since more than 82 percent of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch, this is an opportunity that most of them would not otherwise have.”
Thanks to a partnership between the Houston Golf Association, The First Tee of Houston/Redstone, the City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department and HISD's Booker T. Washington High School, the kids don’t have to bring any equipment. Everything will be provided for free.
The first class is scheduled for Tuesday, July 10, from 5:30 until 7 p.m. at the Melrose Golf Course, 401 Canino Road, 77076.
For more information or to register a student for the program please contact Dr. Victor Keys at Booker T. Washington High School at 713.696.6600 or Dianne Overstreet at the Houston Golf Association at 281.454.7000. – Margaret Downing
