• Way off here. I live in Kemah and I suggest you travel a little farther to either Hillmans seafood or Gastons. Both are the real deal. They are the way Kemah and Seabrook used to be. Local shrimpers catch. The stuff in Seabrook now comes from other places a lot of time and it's not near as cheap or fresh as the stuff in Dickenson

• Still curious about your oyster piece and restrictions between TX/Cal/Wa/Or oysters mentioned in your Oceanairre review. I spoke with Fung's Kitchen, who used to have aquariums full of huge deep water Washington oysters which they'd shuck and serve in a unique way. No more. They were fined by Fish and Wildlife a while back, and he had to retain a lawyer to deal with the fallout (something about being a Fed offence). Anyway, the rationale is that the foreign shells might contain a bacteria/virus, and if they were dumped back into Galveston bay, they'd possibly contaminate our crop here. So as he understood it, other state's oysters can be imported here, just not shucked, and served in their original shells. Is that what you understand?

• You gotta go where the boats are. Check out the seafood markets in Old Seabrook, across the canal from the Kemah boardwalk.

• Where did you find a boatsack around here? I've yet to find anywhere to find fresh oysters, shrimp or crab.
