Sperm Warfare

Categories: Whatever

And now for today's bizarre story: UPI reports that Army 2nd Lieutenant Brian Smith, killed in Iraq in 2004, is the proud father of a seven-month-old boy.

Smith was from McKinney and opened a law practice in Austin before he joined the Army in 2003.

His son, Benton Drew Smith, is one of the first kids to be "conceived from sperm left behind by a soldier who was killed in battle," UPI reports. The Department of Veterans Affairs is apparently aware of two other incidents in the past three years.

"I have a piece of Brian with me every day now," Smith's widow is quoted as saying, either pulling the heartstrings or giving the heebie-jeebies to those around her. — Craig Malisow
