Okay, Now He's Ready to Go

This is not Robert Eckels. Last we checked, he doesn't wear a fedora.
Looks like Harris County Judge Robert Eckels has figured out what he wants to be when he grows up: a lobbyist with the law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski.

"This is a new stage for me to play on. It's an international firm, and it has a broad range of expertise," Eckels told the Chron. "I could have jumped last year if I was ready to go. But I wasn't. Now, mentally, I'm ready, and operationally, the county is ready."

As Kuffner and Whited were quick to point out, it sure would've been nice if Eckels had been ready last year, when the people could've elected his successor rather than having one picked for us.

Kind of reminds us of how Tom DeLay didn't bow out in time to give Shelley "DraculaCunt" Gibbs a fair chance in the election.

What is it with these Democrats Republicans and their insatiable quest for power, no matter what the cost to democracy? — Keith Plocek
