Feeling feisty? Head down to the Mecom Fountain (Main and Montrose) at noon today to join Amnesty International for a protest to mark the fifth anniversary of the first arrival of detainees at Gitmo.

We're all for civil disobedience, but we do have to wonder: Why are these kinds of things always scheduled in the middle of weekdays? Sure, the Mecom Fountain might see a good deal of lunchtime traffic, but standing around and holding a sign at noon on a Thursday is only going to reinforce the "Get a job, hippie" crowd. — Keith Plocek
