The Adventures of John Lomax and the Walk Down Westheimer

Walk on, folks. The weather should be perfect.

As promised, this Saturday, we will be reprising the Great Slog down Broad Majestic Westheimer as chronicled in this story here.

Well, in part anyway — I'm told that we cannot all trudge together along this busy thoroughfare out where there are no sidewalks, so we'll be starting at ten a.m. a little east of Highway 6 at Sylvia's Enchilada Kitchen (Westheimer at Dairy Ashford) and hiking down to the Maple Leaf Pub (514 Elgin) over the course of the day and night.

And we're doing it all to benefit the Musicians Benevolent Society of Houston — a $20 donation is suggested. (Many thanks to John and Judy Foelber for suggesting that we do this — consider yourselves invited as guests of honor to come along.)

The weather forecast is looking pretty peachy — a crisp high of 58 degrees with nary a cloud in sight, so we'll be walking on sunshine all day. Lows will be in the upper 30s, so layer, people.

Along the way we'll be soaking our feet, taking in the sights, popping in a few of the shops and other attractions, and strolling in to the 'Trose at peak Saturday night party time.

Recommended items: a shoulder bag or backpack, easily portable musical instruments, beverages, sunblock, cameras, cell phones, transistor radios / lightweight jambox, snacks, sensible shoes, thick socks, maybe a lightweight jacket.

If you are interested in coming along, please call 713-280-2490.
