Bell: Kicking it Intercontinental

You've done your civic duty, and now it's time to see if your guy or gal is going pull through tonight. If you want to scream for your candidate with like-minded voters, rather than sit through "Decision 2006" coverage at home, you've got options after the polls close at 7 p.m.:

Chris Bell supporters can head to the Discovery Center ballroom at the Intercontinental Hotel . Bell will be watching the returns there, and according to his staffers, may hang out with the crowd during the evening. Expect an official speech at either 9 p.m. or 10 p.m.

Fans of one Kinky Friedman should plan to meet at Star Pizza's Shepherd location. The Kinky folks were a little shaky on details when we called. "We're kinda focusing on other things right now," a staffer told me. Gee, like what?

If you're all about Rick Perry and his hair, head to the Westin Galleria's ballroom for a party put on by the Harris County Republicans. It's essentially a watch party for all GOP candidates, though you can pick and choose who you follow as you schmooze the other elephants.

The Grandma's shaking it up in Austin -- only.

Up for a trip to Austin's Driskill Hotel? That's the only official watch party to see if Grandma can really shake Austin up. We're still waiting to hear back on any official local Strayhorn events.

Did you "vote twice for Shelley?" If so, you can head to the Shelley Sekula-Gibbs "Victory Party" (now that's hubris!) at Space Center Houston's Astronaut Gallery, which starts at 7:30 p.m. Sekula-Gibbs will arrive at 8:30 p.m., staffers say. Wonder if there'll be a Wheel of Fortune game?

Or if you're pulling for opposing candidate Nick Lampson, you can join the Nick heads at the Hilton NASA Rd 1 in Clear Lake after the polls close.

Making a Wong turn? Head to the Amazon Grill tonight.

The race for State Representative 134 has been interesting to say the least. Candidate Ellen Cohen's Victory Party (how bold!) is going on at the Renaissance Hotel in 6 E Greenway Plaza. Entertainment is said to be provided the "nearly famous Allen Oldies Band."

Of course, Martha Wong may have something to say about that. Her watch party starts 'round 7:30 p.m. at Amazon Grill in The Village. Happy watching, fellow 'mericans. -- Steven Devadanam
