Upcoming Events: September Is National All-American Breakfast Month
Throughout the entire month of September, several restaurants will be celebrating National All-American Breakfast Month. Funky Chicken is promoting its Funky Brunch offered on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. featuring chicken and waffles, chicken biscuit sandwiches and mimosas. Bradley's Fine Diner has an a la carte brunch available on Sundays from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. where guests can choose from sweet dishes, such as warm doughnuts with lemon curd and buttermilk griddle cakes topped with blueberry compote and maple syrup, or stick to something savory, such as the short rib hash or pork belly pigs in a blanket. Skeeter's Mesquite Grill expanded its usual breakfast and brunch menu, available Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. until noon, so guests can feast on chicken and waffles, breakfast tacos and breakfast enchiladas. Laurenzo's will offer a new weekend brunch on Saturdays and Sundays in September from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. where guests can fill up on eggs Benedict in seven different forms, including ones topped with crab, ham, beef tenderloin or smoked salmon. Sylvia's Enchilada Kitchen on Woodway will feature a made-to-order pancakes and eggs breakfast buffet on Sundays, while the Westheimer location will serve breakfast dishes on Sundays a la carte.

Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar will offer the filet and lobster pairing special from September 3 until September 30 at all locations. Start with a pan-seared scallop over goat cheese polenta, followed by your choice of the New Wedge salad topped with grape tomatoes, red onions, crumbled blue cheese and bacon slices, or the French onion soup baked with gruyere and Parmesan cheeses. Next comes the star of this $44.95 deal -- the lobster and filet. Fleming's will serve each person an 8-ounce filet mignon with an 8-ounce broiled lobster. Unfortunately, dessert is not included, but we bet you'll be pretty full.
Sunshine Farm, located in Montgomery, will host "Sunshine Farm Days: Come in out of the Heat" on Saturday, September 6, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. This free event will teach you everything you need to know about eggplant. And the best way to learn about an ingredient is to cook with it, so Sunshine Farms will prepare a menu featuring the purple vegetable. Guests will sample fried eggplant with tomato jam and herbed cheese, eggplant sandwiches, baked eggplant fries and possibly pickled eggplant.

Join The Nice Winery at Local Pour for a four-course wine dinner on Wednesday, September 10, from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. The evening begins with a cocktail reception where guests can chat with Ryan Levy, wine maker and certified sommelier at Local Pour. Afterward, everyone will sit down to a four-course meal prepared by chef Pablo Gomez; each dish will be paired with wines from The Nice Winery. The entire dinner costs $85 per person.
While this event isn't for another three weeks, you will want to get your tickets to Wok This Way with Chris Shepherd now before it's sold out. Shepherd continues his food-focused dinner series at Hay Merchant on Wednesday, September 17, beginning at 6:30 p.m. This dinner's theme, Chinese food. Shepherd will prepare a five-course dinner featuring his interpretation of his favorite Chinese-American dishes; you can guarantee General Tso's will be on the menu. Kevin Floyd, owner of Hay Merchant, will pair beers to each of the dishes the Underbelly chef creates. Tickets ($75 per person) are only available for purchase at Hay Merchant, and be mindful that only 32 tickets will be sold.
