Upcoming Events: 91-Cent Original Coneys at JCI Grill
Planted: Houston will host a Traveling Speakeasy series to fund the project of developing a network of urban farms in Houston on Monday, August 18 at Beaver's Icehouse. Each Monday night a bar will host a "Traveling Speakeasy" where customers can sip on special drinks only offered that night; half of the proceeds will benefit Planted: Houston. During this upcoming speakeasy night from 6 p.m. until 2 a.m., there will be three special cocktails featuring lemon balm, lavender and lemon thyme. Each of these cocktails will cost $5. Beer drinkers can enjoy a $5 pint of Buffalo Bayou beer.

National Dog Day is August 26, but Three Brothers Bakery will be celebrating for the entire month of August. There's something for you and your pooch at all three locations. As you munch on a paw-shaped decorated cookie, your doggie can snack on a treat specially made for them. A portion of the sales from the dog-themed cookies will benefit Friends For Life, so you're not just making your pup happy. Make sure to visit any bakery location during the last week of August, too -- 100 percent of the cookie sales will go straight to Friends For Life. Customers will also have a chance to adopt a pet during the mobile adoption event with Friends For Life on August 30 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Don't forget that the patio at the Washington location is dog-friendly!
