Taste-Testing the Lay's Do Us a Flavor Chips
The Lay's Do Us A Flavor Competition has returned once again. The four potato chip flavor finalists are Cheddar Bacon Mac & Cheese, Cappuccino, Wavy Mango Salsa and Kettle Cooked Wasabi Ginger. Each chip is on opposite ends of the taste spectrum.

You have 75 days to vote for your favorite chip in hopes that it will remain on the shelves; the three losers will say sayonara. But in case you were wondering what we think (of course you were!) we have ranked the four chips based on overall flavor, texture and if they make our taste buds happy.

You probably saw this one from a mile away. Seriously, coffee in a chip? Why on earth would anyone want to transform a smooth, creamy drink into chips? We have no idea. The second you open the bag, you're hit with a strong scent of cinnamon and espresso - not exactly what you expect when you're about to eat chips. The overwhelming sweetness makes this flavor a loser in our book. And we didn't care for the cinnamon powder that got all over our hands. No wonder the Kroger on West Gray was fully stocked with these chip bags; no one wants them.

3. Wavy Mango Salsa
This could have been an awesome chip flavor, but it lacks a heat element that could elevate it from tasting like an artificial mango to actual salsa. As you chew the chip, you only taste the mango, then the sweetness quickly fades away, and you're left with a plain greasy chip -- not appetizing. If there were more cilantro, onion or jalapeno flavors, then it would have tasted like actual salsa, rather than a mango-flavored chip. The wavy texture is a nice change of pace from the standard potato chip, though.

2. Cheddar Bacon Mac & Cheese
If you want to indulge in chips, then opt for these cheesy bad boys. This thin potato chip is evenly coated in a cheddar powder, making it similar to Cheetos, but the strong aftertaste of bacon reminds you this isn't your typical cheese puff. While the macaroni flavor doesn't seem to be present, the abundance of cheddar cheese and bacon is enough to make you want to reach back into the bag for another handful.

1. Kettle Cooked Wasabi Ginger
Kettle-cooked chips have the best texture, and the combination of hot wasabi with cool ginger creates one hell of a chip. At first, you're hit with the spicy wasabi, and you'll probably frantically search for a glass of water, but before you know it, the chips puts its flame out and begins to cool itself with the sweet ginger. Now, you're ready for another chip. It's this complex combination of wasabi and ginger that makes it standout from the rest of its competitors.
