The 5 Best Happy Hours in Montrose

Grab a seat at Eleven Eleven's bar or patio for happy hour cocktails.
If you love happy hour as much as we do, you'll love this new series. We're taking a look at the best happy hours in town, 'hood by 'hood. To narrow it down, we're focusing on the spots with the best deals on not only drinks, but eats, too. From upscale eateries serving bar bites and half-priced wine to dives with cheap beer and burgers, we've got it all.

First up: Montrose.

Note: For the purposes of this list, Montrose is defined as the area west of Taft, south of Allen Parkway, east of Shepherd, and north of 59. Since many of the neighborhoods cross over each other, you may see some of your favorites on another list.

Honorable Mention: $3 selects and reverse happy hour at The Hay Merchant; $3 margs and $5 apps at Pistolero's; and the early bird happy hour at Lowbrow (food specials until 2 p.m.; drink specials until 6:30 p.m.).

Eleven Eleven Tuesday through Saturday 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

If you wished for happy hour pricing at this trendy resto', you're in luck. Grab a seat at the bar or out on the patio and get $2 off all spirits, beers, and wines by the glass. Whether it's their "bivalves and bubbles" specials or bar food you're after, Eleven Eleven's upscale take on the classics will do you justice. We love the Akaushi beef burger with heirloom tomato jam on a challah bun ($6) and the Hungarian paprika-spiced and fried chickpeas ($5).

Here's a look inside the stuffed jalapeños at Royal Oak.
Royal Oak Bar & Grill Monday through Friday 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

With the latest happy hour on the list, the revelry goes well into the night at this Westheimer party spot. Here, you can find the biggest, boldest, and creamiest jalapeno poppers on the planet. You can also find fried pickles, calamari, mozzy sticks, margarita pizza, and more for just $6 a plate. Drink specials include $3 domestics and house wines, $4 martinis, $1 off all drafts, and $10 select bottles of wine. It's a happy few hours indeed.

Provisions Monday through Saturday 2:30 to 6 p.m.

The happy hour at this trendy dual concept restaurant may just be Montrose's best kept secret. Head to the bar for a taste of the establishment's seriously good cocktails on the cheap. They serve up a happy hour cocktail of the day -- like the lemon, gin, and agave-punched White Lady, or the gin, apricot, and lime-infused Charlie Chaplin -- alongside select wines for $5 (beers on tap are just $3). Nosh on a ploughman's lunch with foie gras mousse, housemade pickles, and grafton cheddar ($8) or some of the kitchen's freshly made breadsticks.

Don't forget about the amazing hh at dantons, 5 dollar premium liquor, 5 dollar glasses of wine and $10/ dozen oysters m-f 4-7 and Saturday 2-7!!!

Byzantio on w gray has a nice happy hour.

Some of these are ok, but mostly for children who have grown older without really becoming adult humans. For a more civilised take on happy hour I prefer Poscol~$1 cicchetti, discounted Italian wines, and none of the raucous yelling, high fives and thunderous exclamations from guys named Jim.

@RoosterMcGee @alessandra

Misery is colluding with a boisterous bunch of high-fiving, chest thumping man boys, so since I avoid them, opting instead for Poscol, you can be certain I'm not miserable

And afterward you go home and curl up with a book, a glass of chardonnay, and your 20 cats.
