Petite Sweets Introduces Frozen Custard Waffle Cone Sundaes
Petite Sweets is known for its creamy, sweet custards. And this summer, rather than filling up a tall cup with the signature treat, the West Alabama bakery has crafted a variety of frozen custard waffle cone sundaes using the three standard flavors: Chocolate, vanilla and swirled.

Custard is similar to ice cream, but it has a smoother and creamier texture than ice cream due to the addition of egg yolks.
Petite Sweets starts with a plain or chocolate-dipped waffle cone, then fills it with frozen custard (you choose the flavor) and decorates it with an array of toppings to create one of the seven available sundaes.
Chocolate fanatics will have a difficult time choosing between the chocolate-dipped waffle cone sundaes. The Makers Chocolate Covered Cherries features cherry bourbon sauce poured over your choice of frozen custard (chocolate being the obvious choice), and the Balsamic Strawberry includes strawberry balsamic puree. For a sweet and salty dessert, try The Turtle sundae with caramel drizzle, sea salt, chopped pecans and homemade hot fudge sauce, or the Chocolate Covered Pretzel featuring broken Rold Gold pretzel pieces instead of caramel and chopped pecans. Chocolate will get all over your face as you take a bite from the waffle cone (it's inevitable). The salty pretzels intertwined with the chocolate custard is a winning combination.

You have been warned, though. The chocolate-dipped cones melt quickly, so either eat them inside the shop where air conditioning is your friend, or use lots of napkins.
The Funfetti waffle cone sundae will definitely be a fan-favorite this summer. It not only features the popular vanilla custard, but also a crushed sugar cookie. Just like Funfetti cake, the sundae gets its bright and vibrant colors from the cookie's icing and Funfetti sprinkles. Your first bite might be a mouthful of sugar cookie, but once you break through the crumbly layer, you'll discover the creamy and refreshing vanilla frozen custard. Topping the treat with the sugar cookie protects the custard from the heat, so it doesn't melt as quickly, making it much easier and more enjoyable to eat.
Each sundae waffle cone costs $5.50, but based on the size of the cone, and amount of custard and toppings, they are worth every penny.
