Upcoming Events: Burger Specials & Taco Tuesday
Beginning Monday, June 23, RDG + Bar Annie will offer weekly summer specials during its Summer Food & Drink Series. First up is the Beer & Burger Menu, available from June 23 through June 29. For $29.50, each customer will be served three courses. Start with white gazpacho, or a celery root and dried apple salad, followed by your choice of burger -- the Classic RDG Burger featuring smoked cheddar sauce and fries; the Huitlacoche Chile Burger with spicy corn mayo and Cotija cheese; the Veggie Burger; or the Handmade Shrimp Burger topped with seaweed tartar sauce and a side of sweet potato fries. Dessert options include a pecan pie sundae or chocolate pudding with bananas and vanilla cream. From June 30 until July 6, RDG + Bar Annie will offer Summer Fried Chicken dishes, such as fried chicken tenders with cheddar biscuits and chorizo gravy.

Brix Wine Cellars will host a Merryvale Wine Dinner on Tuesday, June 24, at 6:30 p.m. for $80 per person. The reception begins with zucchini kefteds (fritters) and Starmont Rosé. Next, each guest will sip on Merryvale Sauvignon Blanc while enjoying grilled haloumi cheese, tomatoes and cucumbers for the first course. The next course features halibut cheeks with saffron rice pilaf and summer peas, paired with Carneros Chardonnay, followed by beef and eggplant moussaka and Carneros Pinot Noir. The final savory course includes rack of lamb crusted in sun-dried tomatoes and garlic, paired with Napa Cabernet. Baklava will be served for dessert.
Spice up your date night by attending the Date Night Cooking Class: A Spanish Accent at Brennan's of Houston on Friday, June 27, from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. Executive chef Danny Trace will teach each couple how to prepare a three-course meal featuring Creole dishes with a Spanish twist. Oh yeah, and everything is paired with wine. Trace will begin with empanadas stuffed with Louisiana crawfish and chorizo sausage, followed by seafood bouillabaisse with calamari, redfish and shrimp simmering in saffron lobster broth, served with romesco tostada. Dessert features a churro waffle with peaches plus cayenne cinnamon sugar and vanilla ice cream. This class costs $150 per couple.

Looking for a new wine to sip this summer? The best way to find a favorite vino is through samples, and The Tasting Room at Kings Harbor hosts wine tastings on the last Saturday of every month. On Saturday, June 28, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., you can sample more than 12 wines paired with appetizers for $35. The afternoon will be enhanced by live music. Tickets must be purchased online, or can be ordered at the restaurant.
We love alliteration and so does Central Market. On Tuesday, July 2, the specialty grocery store will offer a Taco Tuesday cooking class featuring a menu filled with tacos, sides and drinks. For $65, each guest will make corn tortillas, shrimp in adobo stuffed tacos, and cumin and ancho chicken tacos; the cooking school staff will also teach everyone how to make roasted tomato salsa, taqueria guacamole and baked black beans with chorizo. Because you can't have tacos without something cool and refreshing to drink, the class will learn how to make a watermelon and grapefruit agua fresca. After all the tacos and accompaniments have been eaten, the evening will conclude with a strawberry, citrus and Champagne granita.
