"In addition to the doughnuts and kolaches, we also have our own special coffee," Ohen explains. "We are actually importing coffee beans from Colombia, the Juan Valdez brand you can sell. I don't think you can find it anywhere else in Houston, so we will be the first ones selling the Juan Valdez brand here."
Of course, the menu will evolve after Glazed opens to the public. Customers can expect certain flavors in the morning and the evenings. Ohen says availability will be based on demand, but there might be more cake-type doughnuts offered at night.
"Our goal is to make sure that we are creating an environment that is modern, but not too contemporary, but is different from anything you would walk into at a traditional doughnut shop. As you can see, I'm not sure if you have seen our logo or not, but it's a red doughnut. We want to make sure that we stand out," Ohen says. "We are in a very awkward space, but we created strategic seating so that people can actually feel comfortable to come in there, sit down, have a kolache, or if they need to study, we have high-speed Wi-Fi, it's free for our customers, of course, and restrooms and all that good stuff so you can create an environment that is conducive to actually sit down, relax and stay there for a while."
Glazed will open near the Medical Center at 1333 Old Spanish Trail, Unit E, Houston, TX 77054.
