The 5 Best Brunch Spots in Midtown

The patio at our No. 1 pick is one of the loveliest places to spend a weekend.
1. Sparrow Bar + Cookshop Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Stellar chilaquiles, housemade scones, and eggs en cocotte -- a classic French dish of baked eggs in pots -- are all on the menu at famed chef Monica Pope's farm-fresh, seasonal eatery. Start with the sweet and tangy shiitake mushroom dumplings, a favorite 'to share' of ours, for the table. On Saturdays (because that's the only day you can get them), indulge in the sausage-and-gravy-smothered buttermilk biscuits...and make sure top them with an egg your way for good measure. At noon, get lunchy with build-your-own burgers and caramel-miso-glazed hangar steak. And of course, don't forget to top the meal off with a fiery red pepper bloody or a refreshing-as-all-hell watermelon iced tea.

If you are ordering from a menu, you're not at brunch IMHO

I wasn't really a fan of Cook&Collins when I tried it the first time. I was surprised to see they also made a "top bloody mary" list since when I went I got a pretty sub-par bloody mary.  Maybe I'll have to give it another shot.
