In polling you, dear readers, about your favorite underrated pizzas in town, we received a number of comments that made us say "AMEN," but none quite so much as one from reader PizzaEater:
"Pizza is a lot like sex," he/she wrote. "When it's good, it's amazing. When it's bad, well...it's still pretty good."
The following pizza places may not be as well known as some of the more popular spots in Houston, but they're always far more than pretty good. Did your favorite pizza haven make the list?
5. Irish Pub Kenneally's

The words "Irish Pub" and "pizza" don't usually appear in the same sentence, but Irish Pub Kenneally's is the exception. People rave about Kenneally's "Shamrock Special," which features a zesty red sauce topped with cheese, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers and the pièce de résistance, corned beef. Yes, this might be one of the only places in the world where you can get traditional Irish corned beef on a traditional Italian pizza. Kenneally's describes the crust as thin, Chicago-style, meaning it's crispy on the bottom but piled high with toppings.
4. Bombay Pizza Company

Commenter cukatero pretty much wrote an ode to Bombay Pizza Company when we first asked for feedback: "Sparing no doubt, Bombay Pizza downtown is the absolute best and most under-rated pizza in town. A perpetual outsider, The Bombay P is a fringe artist battling the marketing antics and over-wrought branding of lowlier-than-thou joints like Star and Pink's. You can eat a whole pizza without gut guilt, and never get bored of the complex and layered flavors halfway through the meal. Bombay, you get my vote." The fusion menu is indeed one of the most unique in town, with combinations like saag, collard greens and paneer topped with mozzarella, fontina and goat cheese or fresh strawberries cooked with onions, tomatoes, pine nuts and paprika topped with smoked gouda and basil. There are also meat-lovers options with tandoori chicken or New York strip steak.
