Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start to summer and to Khun Kay Thai Cafe, that means it's time to go fishing. Today through Monday, the Thai restaurant will serve three cod dish specials. Chef and owner Kay Soodjai has added Crackling Cod and Veggies (fried cod served with vegetables, peppers and spices for $9.95), Summer Wrap (crackling cod, spicy sauce, peppers, onions, peanuts and mango wrapped in lettuce for $9.95) and Thai-p Casting (pasta with crackling cod, vegetables and a spicy sauce for $11.95).

The Whole Foods Market on Kirby will host a free tasting event on Saturday. Walk around the specialty grocery store to sample a variety of summer foods and wine during Summer Sizzler -- maybe you can get some grocery shopping done at the same time. Head outside to the patio and listen to live jazz music. Free food, wine and music makes for one heck of a Saturday afternoon.

Buff Brew Spring Fair @ Buffalo Bayou Brewery

From 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company will host its Spring Fair. Each ticket costs $25 and includes admission plus a special glass to fill up with as much beer as you can handle. And yes, the beer is included in the ticket price. Purchase food from Blood Brothers Texas Barbecue, play carnival games and listen to live music from Second Lovers. There will also be a puppy petting zoo! All guests must be over the age of 21 to enter the event.

Alamo Road Show Mobile Theater Smokey and the Bandit @ Southern Star Brewing Company

Take a trip up to Conroe to watch Smokey and the Bandit and drink beers from Southern Star Brewing Company. Each ticket costs $15 and includes the movie plus three beers. Don't forget to bring your own chair or something to sit on. If you're a huge fan of the classic movie, dress up as Burt Reynolds for a chance to win $100 in the look-alike costume contest at 7 p.m. The movie begins at 8 p.m. Get to the brewery early to shop at Feast of the Artisans, which will open at 4 p.m. featuring a variety of local vendors, such as Bravado Spice, Tejas Chocolate and Fais Do-Do Macarons.

Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend with breakfast or brunch at Sylvia's Enchilada Kitchen. The Westheimer location will serve breakfast from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., featuring multiple a la carte dishes, such as migas con huevos (fried tortilla bits with scrambled eggs) for $8.50, chuleta con huevos (pork chop with Ranchera sacue and two eggs) for $9.50, and menudo (Mexican soup with corn, tortillas, onions, jalapenos and cilantro) for $9.50 or $11.50, depending on size. The Woodway location will offer a brunch buffet from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. for $19.95 per person. Fill up your plate with Sylvia's Famous Pancakes, huevos con chorizo, enchiladas, street tacos and tres leches. Add a mimosa to any meal for $5.
