This is only a small part of the buffet at our No. 1 pick.
1. Hugo's Sunday 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (à la carte available Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

When it's Sunday brunch you're after, it's just too hard to beat an all-you-can-eat, authentic Mexican brunch buffet. Hugo's soul food is a feast for the eyes and the stomach.

We had to share one more. These beauties are costillas de puerco al carbón , a.k.a. pork ribs.
Shrimp and octopus ceviche. Chorizo-stuffed ancho chiles. Roasted rack of lamb. Costillas. Carnitas. Tamales. Honestly, it's hard to know where to start. But we know where to end. And that's with piping hot, sugary churros and Mexican hot chocolate. Okay, and maybe the tres leches, too. We're gonna make sure we get our $29 worth.

Totally agree with Hugos and Baba Yegas, but Empire Cafe should be on the list. Numbers 4 and 5 aren't showing up here.

Only in Houston can Hugo's and Barnaby's be on the same list (aside from zip code) and everyone agrees. Houston: something delicious for everyone!

Saturday at baba yega's is just as good, less crowded, and cheaper than Sundays. Always our go to for a quiet brunch after a rough Friday night. Bonus point for the patio and it being right around the corner.

Except for Mother's Day, Hugos Brunch is $40 /person, probably for alot less on the buffet than a regular Sunday....

I like the clean and bright Mexican brunch at Cuchara.

I was very underwhelmed by the cooking at Cuchara; I think Tex Mex holds such sway here, that any alternative is eagerly greeted by the critics. Cuchara is overpriced, a mess to park at now that Max's is next door, and becoming sorta precious with the artsy thang.

@Reinne @FRL713  I don't care for the dinner menu, but we love the 3-course lunches and the brunch menu has some tasty Mexican classics to pair with the excellent drinks.
