Learn how to make crepes at Central Market on Thursday, April 17.
Beginning this Sunday, April 13, through next Sunday, April 20, Khun Kay Thai Cafe will celebrate Thai New Year. Owner and chef Kay Soodjai will offer special dishes, including Good Fortune Curry, which is a pineapple curry with chicken, grapes, and chopped tomato in coconut milk seasoned with a spicy Thai red curry paste. She will also make a traditional Thai New Year's dish, which she has named Old Year, New Year; it's composed of two pieces of crackling cod -- one is seasoned with sour sauce and the other with sweet sauce. Both of these pieces of fish are served with vegetables. You can order any of these Thai New Year's dishes, plus much more, during lunch and dinner next week.

Crepes are one of the best foods France gave us, and on Thursday, April 17, you can learn how to make sweet and savory crepes during the crepes cooking class at Central Market. From 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m., the Central Market cooking school staff will teach you how to make a basic crepe batter, as well as four tasty recipes. You'll learn how to make savory crepes with spinach, and ones folded into pockets sealing chicken and mushrooms; you'll also learn how to make a lemon souffle crepe, and the great Crepes Suzette. Tickets cost $55 per person.

The Sugar Land Wine & Food Affair kicks off on Wednesday, April 23 and lasts until Sunday, April 27. This wine and food event features a variety of seminars, dinners and tasting events each day, beginning with the VIP kick-off dinner on Wednesday, April 23, at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $150 and include a seated dinner at the Houston Museum of Natural Science in Sugar Land featuring a five-course Parisian meal and a blind tasting of French and California wines to determine who wins the battle of Old World versus New World. Cool, I remember them discussing a restaurant at the brewery but I thought they threw in the towel.

@carlina  did have a slight mausoleum type feel when I ate there last, i thought all the monks were tending to the beer, as silence reigned in an empty dining room.
